Sustainability and well-being are the guiding principles of the project for the new Milan headquarters of the international law firm Bird & Bird, which has been awarded LEED Gold certification and aims to achieve WELL Platinum certification as well.

Wrapped in continuous glass façades, Bird & Bird’s new Milan home spans four office floors, covering a total of 3,000 square meters, and features a large, representative terrace. The ground, first, and second floors are dedicated to the firm’s professionals and are designed with a layout that encourages collaboration and socialization, fostering the exchange of ideas and projects. These floors also include event spaces, lounge areas, and break zones. The third and top floor is reserved for clients, offering a space where they can unwind and enjoy moments of relaxation.

The hallways and common areas are adorned with wallpaper by Pictalab, a Milanese decorative arts atelier, featuring references to the famous Herbarium Room of the Casa degli Atellani on Corso Magenta in Milan. This historic space was restored and decorated by architect Piero Portaluppi, a key figure in early 20th-century Milanese architecture. In keeping with WELL certification standards, this design choice celebrates Milanese culture and the expressive power of Italian art, highlighting beauty and the refined pictorial style of a sophisticated example of naturalistic elements integrated into domestic spaces.

The project aspires to promote and share the taste, style, and creativity of Milanese design, rooted in well-being and the philosophy of “living beautifully.” By drawing inspiration from the great classics and blending artisanal craftsmanship with cutting-edge technologies, it seeks to create an environment that embodies both tradition and innovation.
